I just finished watching YOU on Netflix and holy jesus this show is BRILLIANT. Disturbing and fucked up, but brilliant. They make you see the world through the eyes of the psycho and he does such a good job at convincing himself that everything he does is for a good reason that you start having sympathy for him like hOLY SHIT ????? I found myself feeling bad for him multiple times just to be like “wait no wtf lol this trash bag needs to rot in hell” only a few seconds later. It’s scary how easily manipulated the human mind can be. And it’s even scarier how real and relatable most of the situations in this show are.
I just finished watching the new Netflix series YOU about an obsessive, murderous stalker…. I am sorry to say this but the leading character of Beck is such a boring, dull, basic white girl. There is nothing remarkable about her and I found it very hard to care about her safety or well-being. Other female characters were more interesting than her and would have been better leading characters. Peach, the closeted biracial lesbian from a rich New York family, Karen Minty, the black woman who takes no bullshit, or the adopted Asian friend, Lynn.
The show is really good though, the dialogue is fantastic and there were a lot of unexpected twists and turns. The only thing I hated about the show was Beck and her whiny “woe is me, waa waa my life is so hard” nasal attitude and her dumb basic white girl persona.
i want more roadtrips this year. more time spent at the ocean. more trips hiking up mountains. more time falling in love with the earth, and laughing with people that make me feel at home.
